Qantas Eyes Progressive Growth; Plans to Launch New Club

The head honcho at Qantas, Alan Joyce, mentioned that the company observed current conditions in Western Australia as a state of continuous boom. Courtesy of the mining operations in the state, Joyce expects a growth of 22% in Western Australia. He commented that a majority of this growth is due to the various “resource contracts” that the company has acquired.

The availability of these resource contracts has helped tremendously in enhancing developmental plans, increasing efficiency and developing proper infrastructure. As a result, an overall growth can be observed due to the increasing business opportunities introduced by the resource mining companies.

Qantas is currently rivalled by Virgin Australia, which has recently picked up Skywest, a Perth-based charter and regional airline. In spite of the continued growth posed by Virgin Australia, Qantas seemed undisturbed and stresses on its growth plans in Western Australia, which would include wider bandwidth for passenger travel, increased services and promotions to help customers.

Recently they have announced a new Club in Terminal 3 of Perth Airport. This is part of a larger investment on the part of Qantas to solidify its place in Australia and diversify into various sectors of the aviation industry. With a Qantas club in Perth Airport, they can now cash in on the spending capabilities of most people who regularly travel. This is part of a multi-million-dollar strategy that will span over a period of four years and covers over $100m.

Currently, Qantas possesses the Terminal 4 and is looking to move into Terminal 3 after Skywest has been relocated to a previous terminal and the relocation of Virgin Australia still pending.

This announcement was party to another declaration wherein, Qantas deployed another Widebody Airbus A330 for all flights to the east coast. All flights from Perth to Sydney or Melbourne are slated to be deployed with the Airbus A330.

In the following weeks, after the expansion has been completed, Qantas will be looking to operate the Qantas Domestic, Jetstar, QantasLink and a few of the Network Aviation flights from Terminal 3 by late 2014. In addition to the expansion plans outside the aircraft, Qantas also has something planned for the people sitting inside the aircraft. A new menu is supposed to be rolled out for an improved cabin service. The new menu is supposed to be a composite of various international cuisines and is slated to be of the highest standards.
